Playstyle String Tricks
Tyler Severance is an incredible yo-yo player and for him to leave one of the biggest names in the business, YoYo Factory, it’s gotta be for something great. The branding is hit or miss, I love the overall arc of the Recess brand but the engraving on the weekend leaves me stumped. Maybe I just don’t get the joke or I’m not supposed to get it, but either way, I don’t get it. On to the important stuff though, the yo-yo itself. It’s a familiar shape, closely resembling other yo-yos that have bore Tylers name while being different enough with the small steel rims, useable inger grind rings and fingerspin cups and great balance. Unlike most bi-metal designs, the rims are small, so while they add a small ammount of performance, they don’t set the world on fire. It’s a yo-yo with plenty of stability and more than average spin time, but feels great in play due to the balanced weight distribution. The weekend is one of the most neutral feeling bi-metal yo-yos I’ve ever had the pleasure of trying, I can’t wait to see what else he can come up with.
