YoYo Jam – Classic – Green and Purple – Profile

The Classic is the ultimate starter throw. It comes responsive and can be upgraded for less than $10 to unresponsive with a new bearing and pads. It’s got a super wide catch zone and it’s very stable and light making it perfect to learn tricks on at a super low price. I usually keep a few around to give to family or friends who want to start their throwing journey. They’re a little on the large side so bare that in mind. It was also the winner of a sleeper contest for plastic yoyos on reddit which was competing with yoyos double it’s price. A real bargain for any beginner.

Start with this yoyo. Better than the Duncans you will find at your local retail store, in both price and quality. The durable plastic withstands the dings and bumps of beginner play. Less responsive than other beginner yoyos, or any auto-return design. I actually like that quality, because it helped me remedy some sloppiness in my play.

The YoyoJam Classic has stood the test of time among other plastics in its range. Being cheap, it offers a great beginner choice for many and many of new throwers and has always been the go to suggestion for new upcomers. It's stable, forgiving in tricks, and altogether versatile for both the newbie and the advanced. I still carry mine around to this day, and I highly recommend it for beginners.

The YoYoJam Classic is a great beginner yoyo since it is so cheap and easy to use. The shape, stability and available upgrade kit also make it capable of advanced tricks. Being made of plastic the Classic is light and can have some vibrations but it rarely hinders play. This is one of many great cheap plastic yoyos that anyone can enjoy.

Overall a solid plastic, very easy to learn and improve with. Recommended for beginners, this yoyo is a healthy starting point for people looking to get into throwing. The cheap price and the easily upgradable bearing makes tricks on this yoyo an overall ease

One of the best beginner yoyos on the market. Picked up the Classic as my first yoyo and, for being cheap, it does not disappoint. It comes responsive, but with a purchasable upgrade kit, you can optimize it to your unresponsive needs. It's plastic, so in addition to being an easy pick up, it can take a hit and works well for when you're just starting to practice new things that might cause some dings or scratches on a metal yoyo. Overall, a good choice and really one of the best for a person just starting to throw.

This is a great starting yoyo. It's a good responsive plastic yoyo and I can easily recommend it for beginners. It can also be upgraded into a great unresponsive throw allowing for more advanced tricks. The yoyo itself feels really good in the hands and is really light. A good throw for beginners or anyone wanting a cheap but good plastic throw in their collection.

The Classic is one of the best beginner plastics, as well as one of the best overall performing plastics on the market. Looks: Available in some awesome, bright colors for everyone. The caps have art work molded on them, which looks very nice. It has a smooth, slick finish which can handle grind tricks quite well. Play: Let's start out with responsive play. The Classic comes stock with O-Rings and a half bearing so that it should be tug responsive. On the first throw, it can handle most string tricks without snagging. But when I went to tug it back up, it was very unresponsive and I had difficulty getting it back up the string. For a beginner, this would be a major problem. Even with the bearing heavily lubed, the yoyo had to be tugged up a good two inches before it would snag and come up the string. I have heard from others that they have the same problem with it. Unresponsive play however is phenomenal. Grab the upgrade kit and throw the pads and C bearing in there, and you have one of the best(if not THE BEST) plastics on the market. This throw can handle long combos, horizontal, multi-dimensional , and even grind tricks better than some metals! It has great response for tech tricks without snagging and still gives nice, tight binds. It is a solid throw, really stable, medium-fast speed. It is thin enough to handle dense tech, but wide enough to make large whips and hops a breeze. Feel: The Classic has a nice, no-step H shape. It feels great in your hand. Overall: The Classic has become one of my favorite plastics, it's a great performer. Unfortunately, I must give it 3 stars. YoYoJam has advertised this as a beginner yoyo, and I know many people who have bought it as their first throw, but the responsiveness is just not up to par with other throws. It can be extremely frustrating for those who are just starting out. On the other hand, for those who have experience and enjoy unresponsive play, this throw is one of the most fun and best performing plastics you can buy. With the price of around $10, it's unbeatable. SO If you are a beginner looking for your first throw, I would NOT recommend this throw. If you someone looking to learn unresponsive play, this is the throw for you! The slippy responsiveness is perfect for mastering your first binds, and once you have those down, you can upgrade to pads and a full sized bearing. If you are someone who has been throwing for a while and looking to try out a new plastic, MOST DEFINITELY pick this thing up. You will not regret it.

I'm floored at how NICE the classic feels. Responsive or now, it's one of the few throws that didn't feel tiny in my big mitts for hands. And the weight while light is excellent. If I could get my hands on a denser version of the Classic I'd be in heaven. Even as a responsive it sleeps amazingly well and has made my early practice of tricks a breeze. Damn near prefect beginner throw for the price.

I would like to preface this by saying this is my first throw. So far, I am really, really enjoying it. It feels plenty solid, sleeps for long enough and it's $10. I can't say I regret picking it up at all. Definitely a good starter yoyo.

A very solid plastic yo-yo that is a good transition as a newbie looking to get into unresponsive play. It looks and feels good, with a smooth warm surface. In terms of performance and price point though, it awkwardly straddles the gap between tug-responsive and unresponsive. Responsiveness depends very much on string - a thick string like String Labs Ammo will be very responsive and struggle with string tricks, while a thin string like Kitty Regular will not return easily with a tug. The upgrade kit bumps its total cost up above some of its other competitors like the Speedaholic and Replay Pro as well. Overall, it's great for keeping around as a backup and a lender due to its more responsive nature, but a new player will quickly find that the Classic's stock response system is not designed for advanced play.
